Sooooo we are seeing lots of people wanting to know exactly what it means that Edward and Isabella can't have a child.
Is it because Edward doesn't want to have a child?
Is it that Isabella physically can't have a child?
Did they decide together not to have a child and now are changing their minds?
What is the scoop?

I have to admit, I didn't really anticipate this question to cause so much distress...but let me see if I can answer without giving anything away further in the story.
With the way Edward and Isabella's relationship was before the appearance of everyone's favorite angel, having a child at that time just wasn't something Edward would have been ready for.
Would Isabella have made an incredible mother? Of course she would. Would she make one now, yes, again. Does she want children, well, we haven't gotten the answer to that question yet, but it isn't too far of a stretch to assume that answer is yes, too.
There is no medical reason for either of them not to be able to have a baby, if they decide to do so.
As they have been married for 5+ years as of right now, it is safe to assume that by agreement, either spoken or unspoken, Isabella has taken measures to ensure she does not become pregnant. I don't want to debate nor suggest that what she is doing is wrong, especially since she is a faithful Catholic. Let's leave that between her and Edward.
Yes, right now things are much better beween her and Edward and he is realizing how his actions have affected not only his wife, but his family and hers as well. It's a lot to take in. Even if they were to decide they wanted to have a child, based on her current regimen of birthcontrol pills coupled with the unknown of when his time will be up, the idea of having a baby is going to stay a wish for the time being. Besides, as much as he loves her, he also doesn't want to leave her alone to take care of a child. Yes, he would be leaving a piece of himself, but she would be without him.
The subject is not over with and it will come up again, but I hope you can see where I am in my thinking on this and that you have a better understanding.
